The Ministry of Naming

Foundation

  1. First ministry given to humankind in Genesis
    • God to persons created in God’s likeness (Genesis 1:26-28)
    • Persons to others (Genesis 2:19-23)
  2. Functions in three dimensions
    • To interact with to know the traits of the person
    • To label accordingly with a description we call a name
    • To call forth the destiny and full expression of the traits of the person
  3. Applications may be made to naming
    • As we worship God
    • Through the prophetic declarations
    • Edifying one’s spouse
    • Rearing one’s children
    • When leading a group of people toward a vision

Authority

  1. Declaring the truth of THE name(s) of God
    • Unleashing authority (Psalm 8)
    • Acting in authority (Acts 4:8-10)
  2. Praying “In the name”
    • Aligning with heavenly perspective (Matthew 6:9-10)
    • Jesus’ instruction (John 15:16; 16:23-24, 26-27)
    • Intentionally
    • Creatively

The Ministry of Blessing

Foundation 

  1. To bend the knee, a posture before another to receive from them in humility, or to adore another
  2. To speak well of, or to thank, or invoke prosperity, upon another
  3. To prevent or remove misfortune of others
  4. To endue with healing power

Blessing

  1. God, by bending the knee in adoration and worship
  2. Children, as Jesus did (Mark 10:13-16)
  3. Those who persecute us (Romans 12:14)
  4. Those who mistreat us (Luke 6:27-28)
  5. Those whom we have misunderstood or mistreated
  6. Those in need

Conditions

  1. I Peter 3:8-12
    • Harmony with God, with man
    • Humble in spirit
    • Refrain tongue from speaking evil
    • Seeking peace
    • Do good
    • Identifying with others, sympathetic, kindly
  2. Listen for God’s direction
  3. Honor and use scriptural prayers and blessings

  3. “Praise God from whom all blessings flow”
