A good verse to use when counseling an abused person is Exodus 34:6-7:
And Jehovah passed by before his face and called (cry, proclaim, preach, encounter) out:
God!![Strength, mighty, the Almighty; great power strong…also a ram from his strength; a chief, an oak or other strong tree (strong support)].
Jehovah! (Self-existent or Eternal Jewish National Name of God] Jehovah!
Merciful (full of compassion, love, showing pity) and
Gracious (bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor bestow, be, find show favor; deal, grant, give Mercy upon, have pity upon, pray, supplication),
Slow (patient, long-suffer) to anger, and
Great (abundant in quantity, size, number rank, quality; abound, enough exceedingly full, increase, master, mighty more, multiply, often plenteous) with
Goodness (courtesy, kindness, beauty, favor, good deed, loving) and
Truth (watcher, observe, preserve) with
Mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity, transgression, and sin and not leaving entirely unpunished visiting the iniquity of the fathers of sons and on sons of sons, to the third and fourth generation.
